Working on this artist book was a profound exploration into self-portraiture for me. Inspired by a Russian fairy-tale about a young girl who discovers a 7-petal flower, each granting her wishes, I embarked on a visual narrative that reflects gratitude for the boundless possibilities and opportunities in my life. The book features two layers of petals, outer and inner, each adorned with seven intricately designed petals, symbolizing gratitude and fulfillment.
The unfolding petals of the book create a serene and meditative atmosphere, inviting viewers to engage deeply with this project. The tactile experience of turning each page unfolds a journey of introspection and discovery, mirroring the transformative power of storytelling and art.
Beginning with initial sketches, I refined my ideas through three prototypes before finalizing the book's design. Utilizing a laser cutter and shimmering orange paper, I meticulously brought this project to life, ensuring each detail conveyed the enchanting essence of the fairy-tale inspiration.
The book's creation became a personal odyssey, blending artistic craftsmanship with heartfelt gratitude, and inviting others to explore their own journeys of discovery through the tactile beauty of paper art.
